Urban Legends? uuuuu~~
Did ya know what urban legends is all about? IMO, urban legends are folklore, obviously..since it was inherited from FOAF stories from past. I've been reading these kind of stories from primary school, and I believe u did too :D
Recently,I've been realized that I was sooooooo tempted to read stories such as urban legends, especially from Japan! - maybe influenced by anime or manga from childhood good days :D
Here are some Japanese folklore, or legends that I found quite interesting, personally of course~
Firstttttttt one, that I loves most is トイレの花子さん, Toire no Hanako-san or Miss Hanako in the Toilet. Yeah, title might be funny, but not the story itself. I've been reading this from Hajime Kindaichi manga, I taught it was mangaka creation at first, but actually it was Japan urban legends..yikes! From the version I read, girl named Hanako play hide and seek with her classmates, but died afterwards, believed to be victims of war bombing. Not so sure either, another version said she was dead caused from bullying stuff. No matter how she died, but in fact, she did haunt Japanese's school toilet.
People said if you knock the toilet door where Hanako haunt, 3 times to be precised, if there's no reply, you're safe but if you hear someone saying "Hi~~", it means you hit the jackpot already! Hanako-san will came out from toilet with bloody outfit to meet you. There's rumor that Hanako was a boy, cause that ghost haunt boy toilet (maybe) but I think it will be more spookier if Hanako is girl~ maybe my story wasn't scary at all, but when I read the Kindaichi's manga at night, it surely gave me goosebumps! [if I were at Japan, I wouldnt enter school toilet, EVER!]

- This is not Kuchisake Onna, just put this pic to let you imagine how her mouth look alike :D -

Second story is Kuchisake Onna, ghost with split mouth or slit-mouthered woman. - just imagine Joker from Dark Knight will ya? :DShe was believed to be a pretty woman at that time, but jelousy husband slithered her mouth and it makes her mouth wider from ear to ear...eauww...scary! Then she came back from death and slit other people mouth, just like what happened to her before. Legends said that she will lurking around wearing surgery mask, and if she met people, she will ask, "Watashi kirei?" - Am I pretty? if you answer "Yes", she will open the mask and show you her slithered mouth and ask "Even like this?" if you answer yes again, she will follow you and kill you at your house doorstep, but if you said "No", she will cut your mouth and kill you instantly. So which answers you choose? :)
But people said that you can avoid her by these following ways:
1. When she ask the question, your answer must "So-so" or "Average", then she get confused and leave you.
2. You ask her whether she thinks you're pretty or not, she confused and leave. (Pretty sad eh when you ask ghost that you're pretty or not, she get confused. Haha~ nevermind, as long you can live a long life :D ) or maybe, she wasnt confused at all, but while she's thinking for answer, RUN!
3. Throw candy. Easier and fast :D ~ but if none of these working out, pray! - you should pray not to meet her someday.
I can't find more Japanese urban legends, but there still more. Next I will include more story on Japanese folklore - owh I hearts their stories!
