Review: It's Time For Ayakashi Japanese Classic Horror!

Ayakashi Japanese Classic Horror aired on Animax ~ around Oct I think. Owh I'm so impressed with anime's creator, even classical tales can be so enjoyable! Maybe its too late to write review about it, since Dec wasn't Halloween-able at all. :D

This anime consisted of three amazing stories, which one of them I've read it before, if not mistaken, it was called Yotsuya Kaidan. Others are Goblin Cat (Bakaneko) and Goddess of Dark Tower (Tenshu Monotagari). If I were meant to choose my fav, I will pick Yotsuya Kaidan, since I really like Yoshitaka Amano art style :) - he's FinalFantasy illustrator, nice job indeed!

Ghost of Oiwa in Yotsuya Kaidan

Yotsuya Kaidan, IMO, actually it is a sad story. It was a story of couple named Oiwa and Iemon - pronounced Iyemon. Everything was fine at first but problem occur when Iemon wants to marry a girl from rich family, and he need to slay his wife in order to marry that girl. He gave Oiwa some kind of poison by lying to his wife saying it was sort of vitamin to regain her strength back.

Oiwa, suspicious nothing, took the poison and it started to disfigure her, caused her eyes to droop and her hair started falling down, only then she realized the betrayal of her husband. When their loyal servant knows about this things, Iemon accused him to steal stuff and kill him. Oiwa and the servant was crucified on wooden door and threw into river.

Horrible things started to happen. Iemon killed his new bride, because he saw Oiwa face in the new bride's face. He killed others too, because Oiwa and servant's ghosts kept haunting him. (Oiwa can be classified as onryo, ghost that seek vengeance). Iemon running away like crazy (serve him right!) At last, his new bro-in-law killed him.

Pity Oiwa, leaving her son alone (is it?). Just like JT song, What goes around, comes around.
